You have done a remarkable job sharing your story. Your book kept me captivated from start to the end. I was immersed in your world and felt those emotions of shame, anger, pain, and resentment. Your experiences with violence, assault, trauma were heart-wrenching, but your courage in sharing your story brings light into those crucial issues that are still prevalent in society. It will undoubtedly help others understand and empathize with those who have gone through similar experiences. And most importantly, spark a much-needed change. A Childhood of Abuse While Growing up in the Hood is a memoir by Liam Hope that focuses on her environment and the abuse she suffered as a child. After many years, the author shares her pain through the stories and poems she included in the book.
It is impossible to read Liam Hope’s story without tears of sadness and anger. I wanted to save that little girl from her circumstances, even though they happened many years before, and rescue the adult who harmed herself.
Hope revealed some positive sides of growing up in a dangerous place, like witnessing the talent and ingenuity among her neighbors, but most of the time, it seemed as if she was living in a war zone full of fear and gun violence.
Hope’s story should be shared with anyone who has lived or is living in similar situations, as it may help them feel less isolated and depressed. A Childhood of Abuse While Growing up in the Hood is a good selection for readers who need encouragement after suffering childhood trauma.

Author Liam Hope shares her painful past with stark honesty and courage. She delves into many taboo and difficult subjects that most readers may find disturbing and triggering. This book gets dark and intense very fast but in a very enlightening and educational way. Her bravery shines through in every chapter. She sheds light on the spectrum of confusing emotions a young child exhibits in the midst of being abused so the reader can have some understanding of what a child goes through. A Childhood of Abuse While Growing up in the Hood is a courageous and insightful look into child abuse.
